What to test in a 24-hour IPTV free trial: a time plan

· 5 min read

Twenty-four hours is enough to know whether an IPTV service works for you, but only if you test the right things at the right time. Here's a simple plan, hour by hour.

Before you start: pick your moment

Start the trial in the afternoon of a day with an evening match or a programme you care about. That way the 24 hours cover the busiest time of day, when most problems show up, and a full evening of real viewing.

Hour 1: setup

  • Install on the device you'll actually use, not the easiest one. A trial that works on your phone tells you little about the TV in the living room.
  • Time how long the setup takes, and whether the instructions were clear.
  • Run a speed test on that device so you have a baseline.

The evening: the real test

  • Watch a live channel for at least an hour between 8 and 11 pm.
  • If there's a match, watch it from kick-off. Live sport is the hardest test for any service.
  • Change channels quickly a few times: how long does each one take to start?
  • Open the programme guide: are the times right for where you live?
  • Play an episode of a series from the library and skip forward: does it resume quickly?

Test the support, too

Send a real question on WhatsApp during the trial, ideally in the evening. How long does the answer take? Is it a person who understands your problem, or a copy-paste reply? You'll rely on that support for a year.

Before you pay: four questions

  • How long is the subscription, and does it start on payment or on activation?
  • How many screens can watch at the same time?
  • What happens if it stops working? Is there a refund policy in writing?
  • How do I pay, and what do I receive as confirmation?

At Thabit the answers are written down: see our terms and refund policy.
